Do Not Disturb
Felted Wool Draught Stopper
Made by hand in Auckland, in fourteen colours.
92cm long · Approx. 1.8kg · Made to your length
Most draught stoppers are made to be hidden away. This one is made to be seen.
Felted wool, filled end to end with whole New Zealand-grown flaxseed and a little dried lavender. At around 1.8kg, it lies heavy along the gap under the door to block the draught.
The cloth is woven and finished by Inter-Weave in Auckland, New Zealand's last commercial wool weaver. Each one is made by hand in our Auckland workroom, in fourteen colours, at 92cm or to your length.
A loop at one end lets you lift it and hang it away when the season turns. In Australia, you might call it a door snake.
Handcrafted in our Auckland workroom from local and imported materials:
- Felted wool cloth, woven and finished by Inter-Weave in Auckland
- Whole New Zealand-grown flaxseed and dried lavender fill, end to end
- Felt loop at one end
- Woven brand label
92cm long, about 8cm wide and 5cm high. Approx. 1.8kg. It is firm, with a little give, so it curves gently at the ends but will not bend to a right angle.
Need another length? Measure your door at the base, then get in touch with the length and colour you would like and we will send you a price. We aim to make and send custom lengths within 3 days.
Each one is made by hand from natural materials, so sizes and weights vary a little.
Spot clean with a damp cloth. Do not wash it or soak it.
Keep it dry. The fill is whole flaxseed, which should never get wet, so keep it away from rain, wet shoes and steamy bathrooms. If it does get wet, dry it straight away somewhere warm, airy and shaded, or with a dehumidifier.
When the weather warms up, hang it by the loop somewhere dry until next winter.
Keep rooms with an unflued gas heater or an open fire ventilated, and don't use a draught stopper to seal them.

Not the cheapest, worth it
This is a great quality stopper, nicely-made and is of a good weight… The long length allows the stopper to extend either side of the door… Not the cheapest but you pay for quality.

Not too bulky
Range of colours plus it works really well. Not too bulky… just right.

The materials
Three Natural Materials
Wool outside. Seed and lavender inside.
The Felt
Felted wool cloth, woven and finished by Inter-Weave in Auckland, New Zealand's last commercial wool weaver. Dense, breathable and soft to the touch.
The Weight
Filled end to end with whole New Zealand-grown flaxseed. At around 1.8kg, it lies heavy along the gap under the door to block the draught.
The Scent
Dried lavender, mixed through the fill. A quiet note at the doorway, never a synthetic one. Like all dried lavender, it softens over time.
Will It Fit Your Door?
Most internal and front doors are between 720mm and 870mm wide. At 92cm, our draught stopper covers the gap under them with a little over at each end.
Measure your door at the base. If it is wider than about 870mm, or you have double or French doors, we will make one to your length.
Tell us the length and colour and we will send you a price. We aim to make and send custom lengths within 3 days.

Sometimes. It lies on the floor and does not move with the door.
Put it on the side the door opens away from, and the door swings clear of it. If the door swings towards it, lift it aside by the loop. A fitted stopper moves with the door, but it has to be fitted. This one has nothing to fit.
A little. It is firm, with some give, so it curves gently at the ends. It will not bend to a right angle.
Yes, on the inside of the door. Keep it away from rain and wet shoes. If it gets wet, dry it straight away somewhere warm, airy and shaded, or with a dehumidifier.
Yes. There is nothing to fit, so nothing changes the door.
In a New Zealand rental, a large gap under an outside door is the landlord's to fix under the Healthy Homes Standards.
We don't give a saving for the stopper itself, because it depends on your home, the door and how you heat.
Australia's energy.gov.au and New Zealand's EECA both list door snakes among simple ways to block the draught under a door. Their savings figures are for draught-proofing a whole home.
No. Spot clean with a damp cloth and keep it dry. The fill is whole flaxseed, which should never get wet.
It is not a toy. The fill is whole flaxseed and dried lavender, which pets should not eat. If your dog chews soft things, keep it out of reach. If a pet chews it open, contact your vet.
Keep rooms with an unflued gas heater or an open fire ventilated. Don't use a draught stopper to seal them.
Never leave it where it could stop a fire door or smoke door from closing.
Because of the materials and the making. Dense felted wool outside, about 1.8kg of whole flaxseed and lavender inside, fourteen colours, and every one sewn and filled by hand in our Auckland workroom.
There are cheaper draught stoppers. This one is made to be seen.
