Do Not Disturb
New Zealand Wool Pillow
Others use wool. We choose Wisewool™
30 nights to love it, or your money back.
A wool pillow you set to your own height. Wisewool™ fill in an organic cotton cover, made by hand by Do Not Disturb Sleep Company in our Auckland workroom.
It arrives generously filled. Unzip the cover and take wool out, or put it back, until the height suits the way you sleep. Keep the spare wool. When the fill settles, give it a shake or top it up instead of buying a new pillow.
Wool absorbs up to a third of its own weight in moisture without feeling damp, then releases it into the air. That is how it regulates temperature.
Choose the Classic, or the Deluxe, which adds our Pillow Duvet: a quilted organic cotton cover with a layer of Wisewool™ inside. Standard and King sizes. 30 nights to love it, or your money back.
Standard 71 x 47cm
King 87 x 47cm
Feel. Medium to firm. It arrives generously filled. Unzip it and take wool out for a lower, softer pillow, or leave it full for more height. How to find your height is set out further down the page.
Classic or Deluxe. Both have the same fill and adjust the same way. The Deluxe adds the Pillow Duvet, a quilted organic cotton cover with a layer of Wisewool™, over the top.
Give the pillow a shake now and then to spread the fill evenly.
Handcrafted in our Auckland workroom from local and imported materials.
Classic
- Wisewool™ loose wool fill, New Zealand strong wool, 36 to 39 micron
- Organic cotton cover with a YKK zip
Deluxe
- Everything in the Classic
- The Pillow Duvet: a quilted organic cotton cover with a 200gsm needle-punched Wisewool™ layer, made from wool grown on selected farms in the Tairāwhiti Gisborne region, with a YKK zip
Both come in a calico cotton carry bag we make in-house. It is a good place to keep any wool you take out. Save $10 at checkout if you do not need the bag.
Nothing is applied to the wool. No antibacterial finish, no biocide, no flame retardant.
If you ever want it fuller, add a 250g Wisewool™ refill pack.
Pure wool does not like to be roughed up or heated while wet. Regular airing keeps it fresh and reduces how often it needs washing.
The cover. Unzip it, take the wool out, and machine wash the cover on COLD. Cold water guards against shrinkage.
The wool. Do not machine wash the wool. A few hours of airing, in the sun if you can, does more than a wash. If it needs more, hand wash it gently in COLD water with a wool detergent. Do not wring, agitate or tumble dry.
The Pillow Duvet (Deluxe). Machine wash on COLD on a delicate or wool cycle with a wool-safe detergent, in a front loader or a top loader without an agitator. Air dry, or finish in a tumble dryer on no heat.
Every few months. Take the wool out, give it a shake and put it back. It evens out the fill and lets you reset the height.
You may notice traces of natural plant matter in the wool. It softens with use and is a sign of how little is done to the wool.

Switched from memory foam
The Wisewool pillow is extremely comfortable and supportive. It also regulates temperature far better than my previous memory foam pillow. The natural fibres and care taken with the pillow make it a pleasure to sleep on.

Two heights, one bed
The ability to adjust the firmness is fantastic as my husband and I are different widths in the shoulder so prefer different pillow heights. Also super happy that over the lifetime of this product it can be easily cleaned and if ever needed the filling can be completely replaced. The 30day risk free trial is great for peace of mind.

Set Your Height
It arrives full. You take out what you do not need.
Sleep on It Full First
Every pillow arrives generously filled, so start there. Give it a night before you change anything.
Take Out a Handful at a Time
Unzip the cover, take out a handful of wool, and try it again. On your side, your head should sit level with your spine. On your back, it should tip slightly forward. Side sleepers usually keep more wool. Stomach sleepers usually keep the least.
Keep What You Take Out
Store the spare wool in the calico bag, or any bag you have. When the fill settles, give it a shake or put some back. If you want it fuller still, add a 250g Wisewool™ refill pack.
One Each, Set to Each of You
Buy two and set each one to suit the person sleeping on it. Any 2 items save 15%.
“I needed less fill and my husband wanted slightly more so it worked out perfectly for us.” Megan, Auckland
Two ways to have it
Classic or Deluxe

The Classic is the pillow itself. Wisewool™ fill in an organic cotton cover, with a zip so you can take wool out or put it back until the height is right. Choose it if you want a wool pillow in a cover you unzip and wash.
The Deluxe is the same Classic, zipped inside our Pillow Duvet. The Pillow Duvet is a quilted organic cotton cover with a layer of needle-punched Wisewool™ inside. It works as a soft wool cover that gives the pillow a softer feel and a finished, quilted look. Choose it if you want both. It comes off to be machine washed.
Already have a pillow you like? The Pillow Duvet is sold on its own. It zips over a Classic at any time, or over a pillow you already own, and puts a layer of wool between you and it.
“The wool pillow covers have put new life into my existing flat feather pillows and we love them.” Glen, Auckland
Why the Fill is Wool
Your face is against your pillow all night, so what is inside it matters.
Moisture In, Moisture Out
Wool absorbs up to a third of its own weight in moisture without ever feeling damp, then gives it back to the air. That is how it regulates temperature. Polyester fill absorbs under one percent.
Springy, Medium to Firm
New Zealand strong wool is a coarse, springy fibre. It gives a pillow that feels medium to firm, not squashy. Take wool out if you want it lower and softer.
Nothing Added
Wool inside, organic cotton outside. Nothing is applied to the wool. No antibacterial finish, no biocide, no flame retardant.
“We just love that we are using 100% wool pillows.” Emily, Christchurch
Refill, Don’t Replace
Wool settles with use. When it does, top it up with a Wisewool™ refill pack instead of buying a new pillow. The cover and the wool you already have stay in use.
From Paddock to Pillow
Grown in Tairāwhiti Gisborne
The wool comes from more than 250 family-owned partner farms across Tairāwhiti Gisborne, all working to New Zealand Farm Assurance Programme standards. The region's warm maritime climate grows strong wool with almost no plant matter in it. Wisewool's family have worked with wool here since 1894.
Cleaned, Tested and Made Into Fill
The wool is scoured in Napier, then made into a springy loose fill at the Wisewool factory at Te Poi. It was independently tested by NZWTA to method IWTO-DTM-59 for four classes of sheep pesticide residue. None was detected.
The Pillow Duvet’s wool layer is needle-punched at Te Poi into a single sheet.
Goes with
The Same Wool, Over You

The pillow uses Wisewool™ as a springy loose fill, so you can set its height. The New Zealand Wool Duvet Inner uses the same wool as a single needle-punched sheet, spread evenly across the whole bed.
Same farms, and nothing added to the wool.
Any two items in one order from Do Not Disturb Sleep Company saves 15%.
FAQ
Sleep on it full for the first night. Then unzip the cover and take out a handful of wool at a time, until your head sits level with your spine when you lie on your side, or tips slightly forward when you lie on your back.
Keep what you take out, and put it back whenever you like. Most people adjust the fill over the first few nights, then leave it.
All of them, because you set the height.
Side sleepers usually want more fill, to support the gap between shoulder and ear.
Back sleepers usually want a medium height.
Stomach sleepers usually want less, so take wool out until it sits low and soft.
Medium to firm. Strong wool is springy, and the pillow arrives generously filled, so it can feel fuller and firmer on the first night than you expect. Taking wool out makes it lower and softer.
The Classic is Wisewool™ fill in an organic cotton cover with a zip. The Deluxe is the same Classic pillow, zipped inside our Pillow Duvet: a quilted organic cotton cover with a layer of needle-punched Wisewool™ inside.
Both use the same fill and adjust the same way. The Deluxe puts a layer of wool on the surface too, and the Pillow Duvet comes off to be machine washed.
Yes. Add a Pillow Duvet at any time and zip your Classic inside it. If you already know you want both, choosing the Deluxe above is the simplest way to have them.
Wool absorbs up to a third of its own weight in moisture without feeling damp, draws it away from your skin and gives it back to the air. That is how it regulates temperature. Polyester fill absorbs under one percent.
Some of our customers tell us they chose wool because they sleep warm.
Some people notice a faint wool scent when it is new. It fades within a week or two, and some people like it. A few hours of airing, in the sun if you can, speeds it up.
What it will not smell of is chemistry, because nothing was applied to the wool.
Wool settles with use. Take the wool out every few months, shake it, and put it back. That spreads the fill evenly and lets you reset the height. When you want it fuller, top it up with the wool you kept, or a 250g Wisewool™ refill pack.
The covers, yes. Unzip the Classic, take the wool out, and machine wash the cover cold. The Deluxe’s Pillow Duvet machine washes cold on a wool cycle. The wool itself should not go in the machine. Air it instead, and hand wash it gently if it ever needs more. Full care instructions are in the panel above.
Sleep on it for up to 30 nights. If it is not right for you, send it back for a full refund, excluding shipping. We make every pillow by hand in Auckland and would rather you find the right pillow than keep one you do not love. Read the refund policy.
Returns from Australia are welcome. Send it back to our Auckland workroom within the 30 nights. Return shipping is at your cost.
