Is there a better mattress topper out there? Maybe. Somewhere. But we haven't found it yet - and if we did, we'd be making that one instead.

Most mattress toppers on the market try to sell you plushness, fluff, and massive cloud-like loft. But if you already own a comfortable bed or a pillow-top mattress, adding a massive, puffy pad just alters the support you bought, bunches up under your fitted sheets, and eventually flattens into a dense, sweaty crater.

We make the Wisewool™ Mattress Topper with a completely different philosophy.

Instead of fake bulk, we engineered an intentional, low-profile performance layer. Crafted with 350gsm low-loft Wisewool™, the fibres undergo additional needle-punching to further compress the pure wool. This creates a dense, highly resilient, and incredibly smooth layer that sits flat beneath your sheets.

It is the foundation layer of our Wisewool™ Sleep System - working in harmony with your pillow and duvet to surround your body in nature’s ultimate micro-climate.

At the Do Not Disturb Sleep Company, when we are fortunate enough to make a sale, we believe that’s the start of our job. Our job is not done until our customers (hopefully you) love their sleep and wake up feeling refreshed and happy.

So, we are proud to offer a 30-night ‘Love Your Sleep’ Promise. If the sleep essential you purchase isn’t delivering to your expectations, you can return it within 30 nights to get a full refund, excluding shipping cost (if applicable). What’s the reason we can make this promise? Because our products work, and because we genuinely care.

Handcrafted in our Auckland workroom from local and imported materials:

  • 350gsm low-loft Wisewool™
  • 300TC 100% cotton lining — OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified
  • Heavy-duty elastic corner straps
  • Spun polyester thread
  • Woven damask & recycled polyester labels
  • Calico cotton drawstring carry bag (save $10 at checkout if you don't need another bag in your life).

Pure wool doesn't like to be roughed up or heated while wet.

Regular airing and some time in the sun keeps it fresh and reduces how often it needs washing.

Machine washable in a front loader (or a top loader with no agitator) on a COLD (must be COLD - check your the temperature setting), delicate or wool cycle, using wool detergent.

Dry naturally. If needed, finish in a tumble dryer with NO heat. It can be ironed warm — gently stretch the fibres as you go to help guard against shrinkage.

You may notice traces of natural vegetable matter (grass, straw or thistle) in the wool. Some makes it through the double-scouring wash; it softens with use and is a sign of how pure and natural Wisewool™ is.

Do you have a 'special' bed? No worries at all, we're not judging.

Sleep isn't one-size-fits-all, and neither are beds. Whether you’re sailing the high seas on a yacht, road-tripping in a custom motorhome, sleeping on an imported Australian size, or snoozing on a one-of-a-kind antique frame, we can craft a bespoke Wisewool™ Mattress Topper tailored precisely to your measurements.

Because your mattress is custom doesn't mean you should be forced to sleep on synthetic foam!

From Paddock to Pure Bliss

Every Wisewool™ Mattress Topper takes the same short journey.

01  THE FARM

Grown on the East Coast

Our wool comes from a select few farms across the Gisborne region, raised outdoors in one of the best wool climates in the world. Every batch is tested at an independent lab. Only wool that makes the grade goes any further.

02  THE WOOL

Engineered by Wisewool

The wool is scoured at WoolWorks in Napier, one of the world's most advanced scouring plants. It comes out clean, fibre intact, no chemical residues. Then to Te Poi in the Waikato, where it's mechanically engineered by Wisewool into a resilient layer. No binders. No additives. Just wool.

Every mattress topper is cut, filled and sewn by us in our Auckland workroom. Making them ourselves is how we protect our quality, our people and our purpose. Visit us any weekday, or see us at work on our Instagram.

The Two-Way Shield: Why You Need This Layer

Modern mattresses are marvels of engineering, but they rely heavily on petrochemical foams, synthetic glues, polyester covers, and metal springs. While these materials provide structural support, they also act like a heat mirror - trapping radiant body heat, causing midnight temperature spikes, and outgassing synthetic "nasties" right beneath your head and lungs. Our low-loft topper works in two distinct directions at once:

01

Protecting You from Your Mattress

The compressed Wisewool™ layer acts as a dense, natural filter. It absorbs radiant heat before it can bounce back at you, absorbs humidity before it turns into sweat, and creates a clean, hypoallergenic barrier between your body and the synthetic foams in your bed.

02

Protecting Your Mattress from You

While keeping you in a pure, temperature-stable environment, the high resilience of the needle-punched wool protects your mattress investment from daily moisture, body oils, and wear - extending the lifespan of your bed without altering its firmness profile.

FAQ

No - and that is entirely by design.

Traditional mattress toppers add bulky, plush loft that distorts the support profile of your mattress and sags over time. The Wisewool™ Topper is an intentionally low-profile, needle-punched performance layer. It sits flat and smooth beneath your fitted sheets to deliver natural temperature regulation, breathability, and a clean barrier without altering the firmness or feel of your bed.

Wool is nature’s smart thermostat. Synthetic mattresses and memory foam act like heat mirrors, trapping radiant body heat and humidity beneath you. Our low-loft 350gsm pure New Zealand wool actively absorbs that heat and wicks away moisture before it turns into sweat, flattening out midnight temperature spikes so you stay at an even, comfortable sleep temperature all night long.

Most modern beds are made with petrochemical foams, synthetic glues, and polyester covers that outgas and trap heat. The dense, compressed fibers of the Wisewool™ Topper act as a natural two-way filter. It creates a breathable, clean, hypoallergenic sheild between your body and those synthetic materials while simultaneously guarding your mattress against daily moisture and wear.

Absolutely. Each Wisewool™ Mattress Topper features heavy-duty, durable elastic straps on all four corners. They stretch over mattresses of varying depths to hold the low-profile topper completely flat, taut, and secure - meaning it won't shift, slide, or bunch under your fitted sheet even if you toss and turn.

Yes! Keeping your sleep surface pristine is easy. Simply machine wash your topper in COLD WATER ONLY on a gentle wool or delicate cycle using a mild, wool-approved detergent. Dry naturally. If needed, finish in a tumble dryer on no heat. It can be ironed warm — gently stretch the fibres as you go to help guard against shrinkage.

The wool is double-scoured and sits inside a cotton cover, so there should be nothing to notice. At most you may catch a faint trace of lanolin when the topper is new, which proves the wool has not been chemically treated.

Lanolin carries its own inherent antimicrobial and dust-mite-resistant powers. The scent will fade naturally over time, or you can accelerate it by airing the topper in direct sunlight for a few hours before first use.

Yes, wool is one of the healthiest natural fibres you can lie on. Wisewool™ is naturally hypoallergenic, antimicrobial, and resistant to dust mites, mould, and mildew. It provides a clean, breathable sleep environment that is ideal for sensitive lungs, eczema sufferers, and allergy-prone sleepers.

Yes! Because custom mattresses (like those in RVs, yachts, or antique bed frames) are often made from dense synthetic foam, a natural wool topper can be a life-changer to stop heat build-up. We can make a Wisewool™ Topper to your exact dimensions right here in our own workroom.
