How the Mask Supports Better Sleep

Sleep happens when the body receives the right signals.

Total Darkness

Light exposure can suppress melatonin, the hormone that signals sleep. A fully blackout mask helps block environmental light that may interrupt rest.

Gentle Weighted Pressure

Evenly distributed weight around the eyes can create a calming sensory signal that encourages the body to relax.

Aromatherapy

A subtle lavender scent can act as a familiar bedtime cue when used as part of a nightly routine.

Natural Materials

Breathable linen and natural filling help reduce the overheating and irritation often caused by synthetic masks.

At the Do Not Disturb Sleep Company, when we are fortunate enough to make a sale, we believe that’s the start of our job.  Our job is not done until our customers (hopefully you) love their sleep and wake up feeling refreshed and happy.

So, we are proud to offer a 30-night ‘Love Your Sleep’ Promise.  If the sleep essential you purchase isn’t delivering to your expectations, you can return it within 30 nights to get a full refund, excluding shipping cost (if applicable).  What’s the reason we can make this promise?  Because our products work, and because we genuinely care

Heating

Use microwave only. Do not use a gas or electric oven.

Place the mask in a clean microwave with a mug of water beside it. Heat for 90 seconds. If needed, continue heating in 30-second increments until comfortably warm.

Ensure the mask can rotate freely while heating. Always test the temperature before applying to skin.

Cooling

Place the mask inside a clean plastic bag and refrigerate or freeze for at least 2 hours.

Remove from the bag and apply directly to skin. The flaxseed fill will cool comfortably without becoming rock hard.

We use gems from Mother Nature as the hero ingredients, sourced through specialist NZ businesses:

Spot clean only with a damp cloth. Do not machine wash or submerge in water.

If your mask becomes wet, dry it immediately — a dehumidifier works best, or allow it to air dry fully in the sun.

Do not microwave the mask if it is damp or wet.

If you prefer a fully washable option, explore our non-weighted Wisewool™ Sleep Mask.

Comfort That Lasts All Night

A sleep mask should feel natural to wear through the night — not something you’re adjusting or thinking about.

The Do Not Disturb Weighted Eye Mask is shaped to rest gently around the eyes, staying in place as you move without putting pressure on them. The breathable linen outer and natural filling help reduce heat build-up and irritation often associated with synthetic materials.

Once settled, it becomes part of your sleep environment rather than something you notice — creating a calm, grounded feeling that supports uninterrupted rest.

Warm or Cool Eye Relief

The mask can be gently warmed or cooled depending on what your eyes need — making it useful beyond just sleep, whether you’re winding down at night or resting during the day.

Some use warmth to help their eyes relax, while others prefer a cooler feel after long screen time or on warmer days. It’s also commonly used to feel more settled before sleep, and some customers have mentioned it helping to ease tired eyes, headaches, or migraines — not as a treatment, but as a way to feel more comfortable and at ease.

Because it uses natural filling rather than synthetic gel, the warmth or cooling gradually fades — creating a softer, more subtle sensation as you unwind into rest.

Getting the Most From Your Mask

  • Don’t treat it as a quick fix — some notice it immediately, but the real benefit comes from consistent use as your brain begins to associate it with sleep.
  • Going to sleep at a similar time each night helps regulate your circadian rhythm — over time, this makes it easier to fall asleep, stay asleep, and feel more rested, with the mask reinforcing that routine.
  • It can be just as useful for naps — creating complete darkness and a consistent signal that helps your body switch off, even during the day or in brighter environments.
  • For extra relief, try using the mask warm or cool at specific times — warmth can help you unwind at the end of the day, while a cooler feel is often more refreshing after screen time or during daytime rest.

Still Wondering About Something?

No. The weight is evenly distributed and intentionally gentle. It’s designed to feel grounding — not heavy or restrictive. Most customers describe it as a soft, calming pressure rather than something pressing on the eyes.

Yes. The mask is designed for overnight comfort, with evenly balanced weight and breathable materials. If you prefer, you can also use it just while falling asleep and remove it later — it works both ways.

No. The shape is designed to sit around the eyes, not directly on them. The weight is distributed to create a gentle, calming feel without unwanted pressure.

Yes. The balanced flaxseed fill naturally contours to your face, and the twin-strap design helps keep it in place without pulling or squeezing. Many side sleepers find it stays comfortable throughout the night.

Some people notice the effect straight away, while for others it builds over a few nights. Like most sleep habits, the best results come from using it consistently so your brain begins to associate it with sleep.

No — the lavender is subtle and sits in the background rather than overpowering. It’s designed as a gentle wind-down cue, not a strong fragrance. If you prefer no scent at all, an unscented option is available. If you’re looking for something more noticeable, you can pair it with our Sleep Mist for a stronger scent experience.

We Dream It, And We Make It

We spend a lot of time thinking about what we can do to sleep, and live better. It’s a challenge that has kept us up at night - metaphorically speaking.

The truth is, we sleep pretty darn well. And that’s the simple mission behind Do Not Disturb: to improve lives through better sleep, and living.

If you are wondering who makes these proven-to-perform sleep essentials - we do. Each one is made by hand in our own workroom, which is a rarity these days. This allows us to protect our quality, our people, and our purpose.
